Experimental Study on a Supercritical CO2 Centrifugal Compressor Used in a MWe Scale Power Cycle

The centrifugal compressor is the core component of supercritical CO2 power cycle, and its performance operation stability are research hotspots. However, there few experimental studies, especially for compressors used in Mwe-scale cycles. In this paper, based on a 1 MWe single-stage designed with speed 40,000 RPM, pressure ratio 2.5 mass flow 16.3 kg/s. order to carry out test, general platform sCO2 built. range 13.5~18 kg/s maximum close 2.0. curve 31,000 ± 1000 RPM obtained, historical experiment given. Then, compared design using dimensionless method. isentropic head coefficient lower than value, curves shift towards boundary small coefficient. Finally, influence inlet condensation change operating preliminarily explained.
